                  MSHA MINE SAFETY TRAINING

Part 48 training has been required for the mining industry since October 13th of 1978 (which is the effective date of the act). 

This training was intended for the entire mining industry but enforcement of the act for certain surface non-coal, non-metal mining operations was not enforced to the same degree as the rest of the mining industry.  The aggregate industry comprised the largest portion of this category. 

A new training requirement was passed into law to address this issue which is referred to as Part 46 training.

Part 48 Training
